Egyptian Mural

Egyptian Mural by artist Delia King is painted on an interior wall of the Riverside Correctional Facility for women in the Upper Holmesburg neighborhood of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Different from other murals King painted at Riverside which were more abstract, this figural mural takes ancient Egypt as its central theme. The central figures of the mural are a family with three children. Flanking the central figures are a series of winged women and men pouring water. The women symbolize safety through their outstretched wings, while the men through their connection to water are associated with prosperity.
