End Slavery in New Jersey

End Slavery in New Jersey was designed and painted by artist MUSTART. It is located in Jersey City, New Jersey.

The 13th Amendment abolished slavery except for those convicted of a crime. For too long
those who are incarcerated have earned little to nothing for their labor in New Jersey, constructing roads, building furniture, and maintaining the prisons themselves. The partnering organizations envisioned a mural that would reflect this complicated history and present struggle for liberation within the context of one of Jersey City’s most vibrant districts. This beautiful artwork is dedicated to this struggle.
