Finding Mantua

Finding Mantua by artist Felix St. Fort is located in the Mantua neighborhood of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. This mural is part of The Comic Book Mural project which seeks to address the deficient literacy rates among high school youth. Specifically, this mural addresses teen literacy by using Native American and African symbolism and folklore, as well as classic African-American literature as the basis for its sequential comic book style. This mural touches on issues of history, geography, and transformation as it pertains to rituals that define what it means to be an adult.
