Gimme Shelter

Gimme Shelter by artist David Guinn is located at the Morris Animal Refuge in the Hawthorne neighborhood of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Founded in 1874, Morris Animal Refuge was one of America’s first organizations to care for abandoned and unwanted animals. This mural is a tribute to pets as well as to the animal rescue work done by the refuge. Funds for the project were raised in part through a raffle whose winners got to have their pets featured in the mural. The proceeds helped provide funding for both the mural and the shelter.
