Habitat for Humanity mural at 1829 North 19th Street

This mural was painted by John Lewis for Habitat for Humanity and appeared on one of the organization’s warehouses in the Cecil B. Moore neighborhood in North Philadelphia. It depicts several scenes of people engaged in building trades against a backdrop of a framed house in the process of being constructed. The mural conveys the importance of Habitat for Humanity’s mission by showing people working together to create affordable housing for their neighbors.

Location Note: Mural deaccessioned in 2025 because of condition issues. Mural was on the rear of the building at 1929 N 19th Street and wa visible from Gratz Street.
