Healing Through Faith and Spirituality

This mural is entitled Healing Through Faith and Spirituality by Joe Brenman. It is located in the Germantown section of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The mural design is grounded in the belief that faith and spirituality can help people overcome obstacles and honors diverse faiths and spiritual traditions in the city of Philadelphia. Faith and spirituality are critical aspects of individual and community identity and culture and can be important touchstones in a journey of recovery. The bands of color radiating across the wall represent nature, earth, and water. The mosaic in the upper left corner represents the sun and positive light, and the diagonal black and white stripes contain symbols from many cultures and faiths. The mural design underscores the notion that respecting and including culture and faith and spiritual practices and beliefs can aid in greater healing and harmony.
