Hissey Playground

Mural Arts Philadelphia artists teamed up with neighborhood students to transform the park environment around Hissey Playground in the Kensington neighborhood. They used text created by the youth participants to create stylized patterns throughout the playground. This includes 16 benches, 5 basketball backboards, 12 light poles, playground equipment, 36 signs attached to the fence, and a map painted on the ground. The graffiti theme of the artwork celebrates an international art movement that started in North Philadelphia.
