Hope and Strength

Hope and Strength by Delia King is painted on an interior wall of the Riverside Correctional Facility for women in the Upper Holmesburg neighborhood of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. This mural features an abstract rainbow, flowers, and other shapes surrounding a central set of portraits of female athletes this mural. The portraits consist of athlete like boxer Layla Ali, golfer Nancy Lopez and gymnast Mary Lou Retton. These inspirational portraits painted on a wall in a recreation space provide a goal to work for and inspirational figures for the women being held in the jail.
