Impact Veterans Project

In 2019, Mural Arts Philadelphia undertook a two-year project with veterans living at the Impact Services building, located at 124 E. Indiana Avenue. Residents participated in workshops with artists John Zerbe and Kien Nguyn to design a series of interior murals. A cohort of residents assisted with painting and installing the mural series. Participants also received training and mentoring on workshop facilitation with other veterans’ service providers in the city.

The resulting mural is an abstract representation of the flag, evoking veterans and first responder service. The stars symbolize people flying into actions, and the wings symbolize protection. The sun/compass shape represents light, guidance and direction by and through community involvement. The goal of this project was to bring energy to the space using color and design.

Location Note: This is an interior mural that may not be available for public viewing.
