Juan Antonio Corretjer

Juan Antonio Corretjer by artist Elizam Escobar is located in the Fairhill neighborhood of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The mural is a large portrait of Juan Antonio Corretjer Montes, a Puerto Rican poet, journalist, and pro-independence political activist who opposed US rule over Puerto Rico The text of the mural comes from one of Montes poems “Boricua en la Luna” about a Puerto Rican family who immigrates to New York with hope, but does not find the American Dream.

The mural was restored in 2019.
