Keeping Kids Safe

This mural is entitled Keeping Kids Safe by Jon Laidacker. Keeping Kids Safe brought together youth, parents and police officers in a series of workshops exploring, “what does keeping kids safe mean?” The participants worked together to create painted quilt blocks to illustrate the process of keeping kids safe from infancy to adulthood. Themes of caring and responsibility were identified within such daily activities as playing, reading and simply talking in a safe environment. Ultimately, the mural reminds the viewer that keeping kids safe should be a shared value and requires everyone’s help and support.
