Larry Fine

As would only be fitting for a member of the Three Stooges, this mural started out as a joke; but Philadelphians rallied around the idea of commemorating a city native, and Larry Fine. Fine himself (born Louis Feinberg) grew up at 3rd and South Streets, the location of the mural. Besides his career as a Stooge, Fine played violin, acted in film, and even earned money as a boxer. This mural is a testament to a true Philadelphia original.

Despite the fact that this original mural had become a landmark and many tourists and Three Stooges fans made trips to see it, it was removed in 2005 because of extensive water damage. A new version of the mural was created by McShane at the same location in 2006.

Location Note: Mural no longer on view at this location (replaced with new mural of Larry Fine in 2006).
