Lemon Hill Cycle

Lemon Hill Cycle by artist Alana Bograd is a response to the energy of the runners, walkers, bicyclists, and playground enthusiasts at nearby Fairmount Park. The mural consists of 76 total panels installed along the parapets on both sides of the Poplar Street bridge that connects the Fairmount neighborhood to East Fairmount Park near the historic Lemon Hill Mansion and Art Museum area of Philadelphia.

From Bograd’s artist statement: “I want to explore color, form, and the playfulness in nature linked with the delicate lines and patterns found in the porch details at Lemon Hill Mansion. Using shapes and pattern to bring color and vibrancy to the Poplar Street bridge, I translated flowers, leaves, architectural images, and imaginary lemon abstractions into a range of bright styles and forms. The art is anchored in color and patterns and lines that are found or imagined in the Lemon Hill section of Fairmount Park and Art Museum area.”
