Making the Right Choice

Making the Right Choice by artist David McShane was located in Wharton neighborhood of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. This is one of four anti-smoking murals completed in 2003 that were part of a Tobacco Control Program sponsored by the City of Philadelphia Department of Public Health and the Pennsylvania Department of Health. This one in particular focuses on discouraging young people from beginning to smoke. It depicts a young girl, contemplating her future if she started to smoke or not. In one panel, she imagines herself in the future as a smoker, and in the other panel, she imagines herself as an athlete.

Location Note: Mural no longer on view at this location (replaced by new mural in 2011).
