My Friends in the Jungle

My friends in the Jungle by artist Kevin McDevitt is painted on an exterior wall of Brightside Academy, located in the Kensington neighborhood of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. McDevitt’s first mural for Mural Arts Philadelphia depicts a series of animals found in the jungles of Africa including elephants, giraffes, lions and a rhino. The design was chosen because of its universal design appeal. The artist included as part of this design large, flat color shapes that allow the mural to stand out from its surroundings, but also combine with the architecture of the building on which it is painted.
