Oceans of Imagination

Artists Cesar Viveros, Mike Smash, and Jonny Buss designed and created Oceans of Imagination in collaboration with Portside Art Center owner Kim Creighton and community members young and old. Workshops were held throughout the year-long process of creating painted panels, mosaic sea life, and molded concrete coral and fish. The finished product is a “fantastical underwater world” sharing imagery from the ocean as well as the local rivers. The completed design combines rich colors of mural paint, the luster of glass mosaics, and the texture of 3D concrete – providing a spectacular piece of art for the East Kensington art center as well as the community as a whole.

This project was restored in 2016.
