Phenomenal Women

Phenomenal Women by artist Angela Crafton is located in the Upper Holmesburg neighborhood of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. This mural titled after a Maya Angelou poem is located inside a multi-purpose are of the Riverside Correctional Facility, a women’s prison designed for temporary housing of inmates. Painted on three walls of the room, each wall contains images of famous and inspirational women through history including: Rosa Parks, Harriet Tubman, Mae C. Jemison, the first black woman to travel into space, and Cleopatra.
