Play For Change

Curated by SetFree Richardson, Play for Change is a project engaging youth in art-making and conversation to support healing and empowerment during Philadelphia’s ongoing gun violence epidemic. Artist Gianni Lee transformed these conversations and the artworks submitted by the youth into a mural for Simons’ basketball court using the Play For Change logo. The mural serves as a banner of hope, change, and resistance, amplifying the neighborhood’s visions for a safer city.

Gianni Blass Lee is a visual artist, music producer, international DJ, and fashion designer who uses painting as a language to tell the story of a people fighting for their home and their existence. This story takes place in a distant dystopian future. His canvas and color choices are a platform for him to express inner feelings on issues he can’t put into words. He tells stories that speak about social issues in America and abroad.
