Play For Change

Curated by SetFree Richardson, Play for Change is a project engaging youth in art-making and conversation to support healing and empowerment during Philadelphia’s ongoing gun violence epidemic. World renowned artist Raheen Saladeen Johnson (also known as King Saladeen) transformed these conversations and the artworks submitted by the youth into a mural for Danny Rumph basketball court using the Play for Change logo. Play For Change hits very close to home for this Philadelphia native who lost close friends and family to gun violence and grew up playing AAU Basketball with Danny Rumph, who this park is named after. The mural serves as a banner of hope, change, and resistance, amplifying the neighborhood’s vision for a safer city.
