PULSE: Out to Move: A Mixing Light Workshop

This interior mural in the Philadelphia Center for Arts and Technology was created by the artist Michelle Oosterbaan as an artistic mentorship project with Mural Corps. Oosterbaan is known for the transformation of interior spaces using abstract language emphasizing the roll of color in changing spatial perceptions and moods. Grounded in her approach of “installation,” the project focuses on mural as place rather than as iconic image. Located in the school’s performance/multipurpose room, it serves to underscore PCAT’s commitment to the arts, as a thriving part of the youth development goals. Through research, visiting artists and field trips, the project served as a springboard for the exploration of the relationship between art, music, and abstraction.
