Renewing Hope, Sunrise to Sunset

Renewing Hope, Sunrise to Sunset by artist Cliff Eubanks is located in the Franklinville neighborhood of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. There are three interdependent themes in the mural representing a hope towards neighborhood renewal. The first theme is rehabilitating property depicted by the figure wearing a yellow shirt and holding a hammer. The second theme of beautification can be seen in the figure with a blue jacket setting a planter on the ground. The last theme of family values is seen in the central mother and child figures. The tree image, like the child, represents growth and positive expectations, and is flanked on either side of the mural by figures representing sunsets to remind the viewer that the values painted onto this wall are continual and do not just appear overnight.
