Rippling Moon: An Urban Fairytale

Longtime Mural Arts Philadelphia collaborator Meg Saligman returns for Rippling Moon: An Urban Fairytale, an ambitious project located at the Children’s Crisis Treatment Center on the border of Northern Liberties and Fishtown. Rippling Moon is part of a yearlong initiative of Philadelphia’s Department of Behavioral Health and Intellectual disAbility Services to educate the public about trauma and resilience; the project featured a series of town halls for faith-based groups, arts educators, millennials, and more, on how to approach their work with better tools and strong awareness around these issues. Theater-based workshops for children and their families, and a theater production in fall 2017, fostered additional opportunities for learning and support.

“Let us set the stage together,” Saligman Studios says, with “ripples and beacons of light,” describing themes of cycles, collaboration, protection, and hope that informs this complex artwork and demonstrates the many visible and invisible ways in which children, families, and communities confront trauma.
