South Philly Kaleidoscope

South Philly Kaleidoscope was a vibrant mural created by Shira Walinsky and BRIDGE program students from University of the Arts. It depicts the South Philadelphia neighborhood’s diversity through a series of current and historical images, symbols and words emblematic of the neighborhood’s varied histories and cultures interspersed with colorful shapes and arranged in a colorful kaleidoscopic formation. The kaleidoscope is superimposed on a line map of the area. Images were provided by the of the region (provided the Historical Society of Pennsylvania). The goal was to celebrate the diversity of the neighborhood.

Location Note: Mural no longer on view at this location (covered by construction in 2011).
