Southern High School Pride

Southern High School Pride by Parris Stancell is a series of three interior murals at South Philadelphia High School in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Created as part of the 2017 Martin Luther King Day of Service, members of the Youth Violence Reduction Partnership Guild and the First Judicial DIstrict MLK Day of Service Committee worked together to complete these works. One mural features classic Philadelphia iconography, including Robert Indiana’s LOVE sculpture and the Liberty Bell alongside abstracted buildings, traffic signals and street signs. Another features Philadelphia’s City Hall. The third celebrates the high school’s champion Rams.
Location Note: These murals are located inside a school building, and therefore not accessible for public viewing.
