Spring Arts

The Spring Arts mural by Glossblack was part of the annual Spring Arts installation in the Callowhill neighborhood of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. This 2017 mural rises five stories above the ground, playfully rendering “SPRING ARTS” in letters made of Swiss cheese, ice, and neon tube lighting. The mural was created free-hand with spray paint mural on a skinny façade at the old Haverford Cycle Co building on 10th Street. Known for his artful text and eye-popping graphic style, Glossblack has painted a number of murals around the city.
Since 2016, Spring Arts is an annual installation of temporary and permanent artworks in collaboration with Arts + Crafts Holdings. Artists are invited annually to experiment, create, and innovate old building walls between 10th and 11th, Spring Garden and Hamilton Streets to rebrand the neighborhood. Artworks are be exhibited on a revolving basis, providing a diverse range of artists with the opportunity to create engaging public art.
