Strawberry Mansion Legacy Courts

In collaboration with Meek Mill, Mural Arts partnered with the Philadelphia Parks & Recreation Department, the Strawberry Mansion Community Development Corporation, and local street artist Glossblack to create a more usable and beautiful space for everyone to enjoy. In October 2018, the basketball courts were reconstructed, hoops were repaired, and picnic tables and benches and water fountains were installed nearby.
This collaboration created a unique piece of court artwork that represents the Strawberry Mansion community, Meek Mill’s deep-rooted relationship with the area, and the joy of the sport of basketball. The mosaic court design by Philadelphia artist Glossblack was executed by Adam Crawford in collaboration with members of the Mural Arts’ Guild program and community volunteers from Strawberry Mansion. Guild members included: Zhyjeir Boozer, Amar Brogden, Rasheena Bruce, Javon Cain, Quadreer Collier, Anthony Cruz, Omar Freeman, Hayward Gaines, Destiny Gonzalez, Dajon Jenkins, Gary Macklin, Saul Miller, Nassir Proctor, Kaif Randolph, Wanya Smith, Dawud Taylor, Terrell Thomas, Taya Wilkerson
PUMA and Mural Arts Philadelphia also welcomed the Strawberry Mansion community to a Paint Day on Saturday, July 27th.
