Summer Rendezvous

In Summer Rendezvous, a child climbs a ladder to give an ice cream cone to another child in a window. Inspired by the green-wall that surrounded the Shake Shack (20th and Sansom Streets) during its construction, and reinforced by the plantings that decorate the roof, the mural presents a fantasy of plants growing up the building and surrounding a lone window. The greenery frames the whimsical encounter between the children. Stylistically, the mural captures the freshness and fluid feel of watercolor painting on a large scale. The mural continues David Guinn’s exploration of small moments of emotional connection and disconnection in the monumental format of mural painting.
