The Palm Tree

The Palm Tree by artist Ana Uribe was located in the Norris Square Neighborhood of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. This mural is a companion to Tropical Landscape with Waterfall (still on view as of 2023) and Caribbean Sunrise. Like its companions, the artist intended this mural to touch on the hearts and minds of the Puerto Rican neighbors and inspire nostalgia for their homeland. This mural won second price in the City Garden Contest. As a result of this mural, the community created a community garden in front of the mural and it was the basis for a poem written by a community resident.
