The Sage

The Sage also known as Wonder is a mixed media, indoor mural that illustrates a Black youth with a cape and collaged imagery on his face of Black and Brown revolutionaries and pop culture figures. The piercing gaze of the boy draws the viewer to observe the historical personalities on his face as a depiction of legacy and wisdom. The solid colors such as the green cape, the burgundy background, the white t-shirt, and bright red halo behind his head come together to create the Pan African flag. This mural is not meant to be a straightforward work but a creation of multi-layered symbolism.
