The Three Graces

The Three Graces by artist Parris Stancell is located in the Carroll Park neighborhood of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Painted at the top of the mural is a quote by poet and writer Nikki Giovanni that reads: “I would not reject my strength / though its source is not choice / but responsibility . . .”.
Each arch of the mural has a different but connected theme. The left arch represents community, a train used as a symbol of carrying us out of this world. The center arch illustrates tragedy representing the failure of religion, while the right arch depicts spirituality as a beacon of hope.
