Turner Middle School

The Self Esteem and Honesty mosaics by artist Sam Byrd were installed at an entrance to the Turner Middle School (now Motivation High School) in Southwest Philadelphia. One mural depicts children being supported by their parents while the second depicts students engaged in building messages of love, peace, kindness, understanding and respect that can support their learning journey.

The murals were created as part of a five-year mural-making partnership between The School District of Philadelphia and the City of Philadelphia Mural Arts Program that ran from 2004-2009.
