Un Mundo de Inspiracion (A World of Inspiration)

The Spoken Word project uses spoken words as a site for identity-making through storytelling that explores moments, events, or people of inspiration. The project is designed to use collective literacy practices to build reading, writing, sharing, and reflecting skills.

The Norris SquareUn Mundo de Inspiracion (A World of Inspiration) mural is the product of visual artist Charles Barbin and spoken word artist Kamysha Martin collaborating at Norris Square Neighborhood Projects (NSNP) after school workshops. The artists met with students to gather inspiring words and images from the students involved in the Mural Arts Big Picture Program. These ideas of inspiration were incorporated into a design along with Latino symbolism and culture from community members and NSNP staff. Students from Hunter School also contributed to the painting process.
