Wall Ball 2022: Art in Action (1600 Market Street Pop-Up Artist Residency)

At the 2022 Wall Ball, Mural Arts Philadelphia’s annual gala fundraiser, the event honored one of Mural Arts’ notable programs, Art Education, whose mission is to empower youth to be leaders through artmaking. The Gallery at 1600 Market showcases three panels that were painted live on site at the event. Artists Calo Rosa, Manuela Guillen, and Damon Bain were on scaffolding, creating the works from scratch in front of a live audience throughout the night’s festivities.

American Real Estate Partners (AREP) has partnered with Mural Arts at 1600 Market Street to provide a space for artists to create and for the public to experience. The artistic vibe and creative pulse that makes up Philly is and has been the centerpiece around the recent redevelopment at 1600 Market. Marrying the building’s pop-art influences with Mural Arts’ mission to beautify, inspire and empower has enabled this space to reflect history, change, and community.
