Wave of Emotion

Wave of Emotion by artist Becky McIntyre is located at the recreation center at Marie Winchester Playground in Philadelphia’s Norris Square neighborhood. The youth in the Winchester Recreation Center afterschool program worked with McIntyre, the lead muralist and teaching artist, to design and paint a mural over a 10 week period. Every class opened with the youth using a feelings wheel to identify their emotions and affirmations to empower them. This became a treasured routine with the youth and influenced the design they helped create.
