Where We Play Together

Where We Play Together by artists Paul Downie & Desiree Bender, attempts to capture a bit of the spirit of the James Finnegan Playground and the people who live in the neighborhood. The mural consists of 4 walls wrapping all the way around the recreation center. There are also two portraits on this wall of two men who the community feels have made significant contributions; Officer Charles Knox, a Philadelphia police officer who was killed in the line of duty and Paul “Earthquake” Moore, a former professional boxer and social activist who grew up and still lives in the neighborhood.
