Wilson Park Apartments murals, 2500 Jackson Street (1992)
A series of eight murals by William Freeman at the Wilson Park Apartments in South Philadelphia featured portraits of the residents who lived in the housing complex. The original murals were removed and reenvisioned at the same site in 2001.
Murals painted by the Philadelphia Anti-Graffiti Network (PAGN), a City agency and the precursor to the Mural Arts Program, were created with the goal of transforming graffiti writers’ talents into positive community arts initiatives. Read more about Mural Arts’ history here.
Location Note: Murals no longer on view at this location (deaccessioned in 2001).
