Women’s Way

Womens Way by artist Diane Keller was located in the Center City neighborhood of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Sponsored by Women’s Way founded in 1977, the organization is the country’s oldest and largest women’s funding federation. Their mission is to raise money and public awareness to fight for and achieve women’s equality, safety, self-sufficiency and reproductive freedom through women-centered funding, advocacy and education. The mural itself features abstractly the stages of a woman’s life from education to work and then a knowledge holder.
Text in the west panel of the mural reads: “These murals celebrate the lives, work, education, and activism of women . . . and the courage, contribution, and committment of WOMENS WAY’s supporters April 6, 1999.” It also lists the names of supporters of the organization.
Location Note: Mural no longer on view at this location (painted out ca. 2008).
