World Refugee Day Wheatpaste Project

The World Refugee Day Wheatpaste Project was a temporary project spotlighting the contributions and resilience of immigrant women in Philadelphia. Seven wheatpastes by Symone Salib featuredworld re female immigrant and refugee community leaders nominated by partners and staff at the Women’s Law Project. The portraits are accompanied by quotes from the seven honorees reflecting on their personal experiences as immigrant women, community leaders and individuals. The installation was designed to show that the while the community is diverse and vibrant, it is brought together by shared problems and ideals. This project is fundamentally about perspective, visually representing the hidden stories of women who are fighting to push for a better life and world with the hope to inspire others.
