Mural Arts Philadelphia is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Grant Writer to join our Development Team. This role is essential in securing funding to support our community-based arts initiatives. The Grant Writer will research, prepare, submit, and track grant proposals to Federal, state, local, and private funding agencies, collaborating with internal stakeholders to align proposals with our strategic priorities.
The ideal candidate will have at least three years of experience in grant writing, particularly in responding to foundation and institutional requests related to community-based arts. This individual should have exceptional writing and editing skills, strong attention to detail, and the ability to effectively communicate Mural Arts Philadelphia’s mission and impact to potential funders. Roles & Responsibilities
- Identify and pursue new funding opportunities aligned with organizational goals.
- Vet funding opportunities for alignment, feasibility, and sustainability.
- Develop, write, edit, and submit compelling grant proposals, ensuring compliance with all grant instructions, deadlines, and organizational priorities.
- Draft proposal summaries, and coordinate proposal planning meetings with leadership and relevant departments.
- Assist in setting grant-related goals, outcomes, and evaluation metrics.
- Maintain a comprehensive database of grant submissions, tracking deadlines, reporting requirements, and award status.
- Evaluate and report on the impact of grant-funded projects.
- Develop and maintain relationships with funders and provide timely progress updates.
- Stay current on trends in arts funding and best practices in community-based arts programming.
- Utilize existing agency data to craft compelling cases for support.
- Other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree in English, Communications, Journalism, or a related field.
Experience: Minimum of three years of experience in grant writing, with a focus on foundation and institutional funding for community-based arts programs.
- Exceptional writing and editing skills with proficiency in business, technical, and persuasive writing.
- Strong research skills with the ability to analyze and synthesize information effectively.
- Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and time-management abilities.
- Ability to work collaboratively across departments and communicate effectively.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and grant management databases.
- Experience with federal, state, and local grant processes is highly desirable.
- Experience in donor communications, including direct interactions with funders, preferred.
- Knowledge of arts funding and community-based arts programming is a plus.
Compensation & Benefits
$55,000- $60,000 per year
