“Ed Bradley: Curious, Relentless, Timeless” Mural Dedication
Please join us to dedicate the recreation of a beloved mural honoring legendary broadcast journalist Ed Bradley, longtime correspondent for CBS’ “60 Minutes.” Together, we’ll welcome this historic tribute—first dedicated in 2018—back to Bradley’s home of West Philadelphia.
Celebrate with free food, community, and live entertainment as we uplift the legacy of a proud Philadelphia native and recognize three milestones in his life and career: Fall 2026 marks 50 years since Bradley’s appointment as the first African American White House correspondent, the 20th anniversary of his death, and what would have been his 85th birthday (celebrated at a community paint day in July 2026.)
After the originial mural was obscured by construction, artist Ernel Martinez collaborated with the Ed Bradley Family Foundation to recreate Ed Bradley: Curious, Relentless, Timeless at North 44th Street & Parrish Street. Join Bradley’s neighbors, colleagues, and loved ones in celebrating Bradley’s life, and honor the importance of keeping our city’s Black history alive through public art.
Bradley (1941–2016) began his career as a public school teacher and disc jockey at Philadelphia’s WDAS radio station. He went on to become the first Black television correspondent to cover the White House and spent 26 years as a correspondent on “60 Minutes,” earning dozens of prestigious journalism awards and anchoring his own broadcast, “CBS Sunday Night News with Ed Bradley.” His journalism career took him all over the world, but he remained a proud son of the City of Brotherly Love.
