Expressive Textures: New works from the Color Me Back Program

Common Thread exhibition opening, December 12, 2025. Photo by Gustavo Garcia for Colibri Workshop.

Mural Arts’ Porch Light program invites you to explore Expressive Textures: New Works from the Color Me Back Program, an exhibition of individual and collaborative artwork curated by artist Cory Kram and created by the participants and staff artists of Color Me Back.

Join us as we celebrate the ingenuity and creativity at the heart of Color Me Back, Mural Arts’ same day work and pay program. In this exhibition, participants from Color Me Back’s Kensington and Suburban Station sites explore ideas and stories through mixed-media artwork created with paint, textiles, or recycled materials, using layers of rich color and texture to express their unique visions.

FUNDERS: City of Philadelphia Office of Community Empowerment and Opportunity, the Department of Behavioral Health and Intellectual disAbility Services, the Sheller Family Foundation

About Color Me Back

Color Me Back: A Same Day Work and Pay Program combines participatory art-making and access to social services in an innovative model that offers wage-earning opportunities to individuals experiencing economic insecurity. The program draws on the successful experiences of other cities in offering “same-day wages” to help address economic instability, while transforming additional spaces through the power of collective good.
