Passyunk Passeggiata Mosaic Dedication
Join Mural Arts Philadelphia, the Philadelphia Parking Authority, and the East Passyunk Business Association to dedicate Passyunk Passeggiata, a new 120-foot mosaic artwork by Philadelphia artist Eric Okdeh.
Stretching across a low wall on Passyunk Avenue, at the foot of Jared Bader’s East Passyunk Historical Street Scenes, Passyunk Passeggiata celebrates the history, character, and everyday life of the avenue.
With 60+ murals in the city, Okdeh has incorporated mosaic into murals for more than 20 years, but this is only his second wall constructed entirely of glass. The result is a colorful, detailed work filled with scenes to discover—from South Philly’s iconic Tofani doors to The Pythians, one of the first African American baseball clubs in the country, founded by civil rights activist Octavius V. Catto in 1866.
East Passyunk neighbors are especially invited to come celebrate this new addition to the neighborhood! Look closely, and you’ll spot real storefronts, street scenes, and familiar faces the artist observed on the avenue.
