PJJSC Mural Dedications

Join us at the Philadelphia Juvenile Justice Service Center to celebrate the completion of seven murals!

Youth at PJJSC co-designed wayfinding entryway murals to rename six pods after notable public figures from Philadelphia with Teaching Artists Nicole Rodrigues, Neil Catangay, Dyymond Whipper-Young, Arshayla Robinson, and Neveah Ryals.

These murals derive inspiration from the legacies of Will Smith, Paul Robeson, Jill Scott, Joe Frazier, Bernard Hopkins, and Hank Gathers, utilizing inspirational quotes. In addition, a large-scale mural for PJJSC’s courtyard “Healing Garden” space will be dedicated. This mural, designed by Visiting Artist Calo Rosa with design assistance from PJJSC youth, inspired by themes of nature and tranquility, visually ties the garden’s koi pond and meditation garden to create a communal space for reflection.
