Rooted Bodies, Rising Visions: A Community Yoga & Visioning Session
Join Philadelphia-based visual artist and yoga teacher Michele Pierson for a community gathering rooted in movement, reflection, and collective imagination.
Rooted Bodies, Rising Visions: A Community Yoga & Visioning Session is a restorative flow + facilitated mindfulness discussion designed for BIPOC women, girls, nonbinary, and trans individuals, informing the Engaging Women and Girls of Color Mural Project.
Through an accessible restorative slow flow yoga practice and guided visioning circle, participants will be invited to connect with their bodies, reflect on their lived experiences, and share the stories, symbols, and dreams they hope to see represented in a new public mural.
Together, we will explore themes of healing, joy, resilience, belonging, and collective care while imagining the visual language of the upcoming Engaging Women and Girls of Color mural project.
This gathering centers the voices and experiences of Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) women, girls, trans, nonbinary, and gender nonconforming individuals. No prior yoga experience is required—this practice is designed for all levels and welcomes anyone seeking a space for rest, reflection, connection, and creative expression.
What to expect:
- Restorative slow flow yoga practice
- Breathwork and guided mindfulness
- Community visioning conversation
- Creative reflection through writing and drawing
- An opportunity to help shape a future public artwork
This event is presented in partnership with Mural Arts Philadelphia, the Department of Behavioral Health and Intellectual disAbility Services’ Engaging Women and Girls of Color Initiative, and Monarch Yoga.
Come root into yourself, connect with community, and help imagine what we create together.
