Sheppard Fairey’s Uplift Justice Mural Dedication

Internationally acclaimed street artist Shepard Fairey—known worldwide for his OBEY Giant imagery and the iconic “Hope” poster—will unveil a new mural in Philadelphia, Uplift Justice. The project marks a rare opportunity for the public to experience a new large-scale work by Fairey within Mural Arts’ citywide program.
Uplift Justice will be Fairey’s largest and most prominent mural in the city. Meant as a call to justice, this mural is intentionally being installed in the heart of Philly, at 1421 Arch Street, as a preview of the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence in 2026. It features the face of a woman of indistinguishable race, gazing upward contemplatively, allowing the viewer to focus on the symbols: the scales of justice, the Liberty Bell, and that distinctly Shepard Fairey design language. It evokes themes of hope, reflection, and shared ideals. There’s a real balance between the narrative he’s trying to tell and the collective people we might imagine when we talk about justice—true justice.
