Everyone knows that some partnerships just click. Like how Philadelphians know Jalen Hurts and AJ Brown on a crucial third down is a recipe for success. Or a perfectly executed play design where the O-line and Saquon Barkley are in sync will result in a highlight reel. And then there’s the long-standing collaboration between Mural Arts Philadelphia and the Super Bowl LIX Champions Philadelphia Eagles. Our multi-decade relationship has met milestones each year, yet this year feels like it’s hurdling over new heights.

Mural Arts and the Eagles have been bringing art to neighborhoods and fostering communal support for the School District of Philadelphia. This past year, in particular, has highlighted the breadth and depth of our shared commitment.

Starting in May with Wall Ball, our signature annual gala, we shone a light on the Eagles organization’s philanthropic strides in securing youth futures in education. The highlight of the evening was seeing Eagles’ beloved defensive end, Brandon Graham, accept an honorary award from mural artist David McShane. This moment beautifully underscored the deep connection between David and the team, as well as the unwavering dedication that bonds our organizations.

But our collaboration extends far beyond formal recognition. In June, we were welcomed by Stephen Decatur Elementary School to install a campus-wide mural. Eagles players, staff, and our Mural Arts staff – led by David McShane – all working side-by-side with the school’s faculty and students, collectively transforming school grounds into a more inspiring and colorful learning ecosystem. Powered by a collaborative effort involving artmaking from all grades, the mural represents the spirit of activity and learning.

No mention of our partnership with the Eagles would be complete without also highlighting our dynamic mural collaboration with Spike’s Trophies. This isn’t just any mural; as reported by The Philadelphia Inquirer and other local outlets, it’s a “City of Champions” tribute by our very own David McShane. Located on Grant Avenue in Northeast Philadelphia, the mural has been continually updated to reflect the city’s sporting achievements. Recent additions feature iconic players like Jalen Hurts, Nick Foles, Brandon Graham, and Jason Kelce in his Mummers costume – immortalizing key moments from both Super Bowl LII and Super Bowl LIX victories!

The Philadelphia Eagles are more than just a football team; they are a vital part of our community’s fabric, consistently demonstrating their dedication to civic engagement. Mural Arts Philadelphia is honored to continue this powerful partnership, painting a brighter future for all Philadelphians, one mural, one paint day, and one shared triumph at a time. We look forward to many more decades of soaring together! Go Birds!
