Hey muralistas, we’ve got your weekend plans!

Last week, we kicked off Mural Arts Month with a huge party in Snyder Plaza, went to the Barnes for a fascinating panel with Shinique Smith, and dedicated a new mural in North Philadelphia. Did you miss out on the awesomeness? Never fear! We’ve got three more weeks of playful, powerful, and poetic events in store.

On Friday, October 7, take a break between First Friday gallery hopping to check out a one-night-only installation: Unsung at the Rail Park. Sound designer and composer Nadia Botello and video artists Nadia Hironaka and Matthew Suib voice the unheard stories of the Callowhill area through this immersive sound and moving-image experience. Curious about the work? Read about Unsung an interview with Nadia, Nadia, and Matthew.

On Saturday, October 8, spend an afternoon at the Pearl Street Block Party for kid-friendly crafts, cool performances, and our very own Artrepreneurs’ pop-up shop.

After browsing and crafting, walk a few blocks north and check out a spectacular exhibition, hosted and sponsored by Arts + Crafts Holdings, featuring work by the artists of the Spring Arts District, Mural Arts’ first rotating outdoor gallery. Our inaugural artists include Philly favorites Kid Hazo, Ryan Beck, Miriam Singer, Andrew Jeffrey Wright, Hawk Krall, and Martha Rich.
