Philly’s Next Mural Stars Shine On Front Street Walls

Front Street Walls is more than just a rotating mural project. It is a vital platform helping emerging artists take the next step in their public art journeys. Reignited in 2023 by curator and Fishtown native Conrad Benner in partnership with Mural Arts and CookNSolo‘s LilaH Events and Goldie Falafel, Front Street Walls gives local artists their first opportunity to lead a solo, commissioned mural in a public space.

Every two years, four Philadelphia-based artists are selected to transform the walls along Front Street between Columbia Avenue and Oxford Street in Fishtown. This initiative continues the site’s history as a rotating mural exhibition space. First introduced in collaboration with Honeygrow (2016 to 2018), the project helps strengthen the city’s legacy as the mural capital of the world. With Front Street Walls, the goal is clear: create dynamic, artist-led public art while building pathways for emerging artists to establish themselves in the field of mural-making.

Gianni Lee

At the intersection of art and technology, Gianni explores Afro-futurism through dynamic works that challenge viewers to reconsider their present reality. His influences — comic books, anime, manga, and video games — merge with his experiences, growing up in spaces where characters like him were rarely represented. A Philly street art legend, Gianni’s contribution will be nostalgic, boundary-pushing, and unforgettable.
