The Top 9 Mural Arts Moments in June

Every month is special at Mural Arts, but June has been a blast. Read on for our top moments of the month.

Our city keeps growing, and so does our collection of incredible public art. Master artist Richard Haas pieced together Growth of a Metropolis, which highlights the architectural history of Philadelphia from 1685-2015.

We love whirling around the city, especially when we’re on colorful bikes! With help from our Art Education students, artist Candy Coated created a mural and helped us brighten up a fleet of Indego bikes.

Sweet tunes and snapping fingers kicked off our preparation for the South Philly Musicians Remix mural. Keep watching our progress on Broad and Tasker this summer, then celebrate in style with a giant party in October!

Mural alert! Kid Hazo, an artist working with our Art Education students, added to the growing collection at the Spring Garden Arts District.

Meg Saligman’s beautiful American flag flies high over the city, welcoming in visitors to Philadelphia near the Benjamin Franklin Bridge. This iconic, fifteen-year-old mural got a fabulous refresh this summer – as you can see from the dedication on June 27!

The Democratic National Convention descends on Philly in July – and we’re ready to create art! Paint days, donkeys, and an awesome mural running down Broad Street are all in the works…

Our rotating gallery at The Fillmore Philadelphia got a new image courtesy of Nether.

Our artwork offers a glimpse into life in Philadelphia, and so do Windows of Peace, a beautiful mural on the side of Al-Aqsa.

This enormous portrait of Bishop Richard Allen radiates peace and wisdom over Market Street. You can help us dedicate the mural on July 4 as the A.M.E. celebrates its 200th anniversary.
