Center City Storefront Artwork Initiative

Dozens of businesses had temporarily shuttered as the City limited storefront activity to keep Philadelphians safe during the pandemic. The plywood boards across Center City that protect storefronts became host to 28 temporary artworks by 12 different artists. Installed over the windows of 10 businesses, ranging from small retailers to large restaurants, the boards – painted black by Center City District – act as a frame for the artworks to pop out of the city line, creating a miniature eye-level gallery to complement Mural Arts’ larger-than-life collection of permanent works.
Participating artists include Dora Cuenca, Molly Egan, David Guinn, Jim Houser, Destiny Palmer, Martha Rich, Darin Rowland, Miriam Singer, Gina Triplett, Shira Walinksy and Lauren Cat West.
